Vietnam Military Medical University is the only higher education institution under the Ministry of National Defense that offers undergraduate and postgraduate training in Medicine and Pharmacy. It is entrusted with three core missions: training military medical officers at various levels and healthcare personnel to serve the nation’s industrialization and modernization; providing medical treatment and conducting scientific research, particularly in the field of military medicine and pharmacy; and continuously striving to maintain its position as one of Vietnam’s leading medical and pharmaceutical universities, a national key university, and a center for training, research, development, and application of advanced technologies in both military and civilian medicine at the national and international levels.

Journal of Military Pharmaco-medicine is the official publication of the Vietnam Military Medical University, operating under the University’s Directorate. It was granted Publication License No. 345/GP-BVHTT dated August 8, 2002, and has since been published on a bi-monthly basis. In response to global integration trends and with the aspiration to exchange medical research achievements with colleagues worldwide, the Journal sought and received approval from the General Department of Politics to publish its articles online (Official Dispatch No. 440/VP dated May 16, 2005). This marked a significant milestone, enabling the Journal to engage with reputable international publications. On June 21, 2006, the Journal was assigned the international ISSN code 1859-0748.

Since its inaugural issue, the Journal has been authorized to increase its publication frequency to nine issues per year (Publication License No. 1149/GP-BTTTT in 2012 and No. 594/GP-BTTTT in 2022), in addition to special issues dedicated to the University's Scientific Conferences. To further enhance its quality, the Journal established an independent website in early 2022 for online publication, implemented DOI indexing (https://doi.org/10.56535) for each article, and adopted a double-blind online peer-review system. On July 22, 2024, the Journal was officially licensed by the Ministry of Information and Communications to publish in both print and electronic formats under Decision No. 200/GP-BTTTT.

Journal of Military Pharmaco-medicine consistently strives to affirm its reputation and contribute actively to education, research, and healthcare. It has become a trusted scientific forum for the Vietnam Military Medical University, accompanying the University’s units in writing the golden chapters of its more than 75 years of development and achievements.
