Evaluation of the Outcomes of Percutaneous Nephrolithotomy Using a Miniaturized Tract at Ha Đong General Hospital
The study aims to evaluate the outcomes of percutaneous nephrolithotomy using a miniaturised tract at Ha Đông General Hospital. This research assesses the effectiveness of percutaneous nephrolithotomy using a miniaturised tract at Hà Đông General Hospital. It is a cross-sectional descriptive study conducted on 30 patients from January 2022 to June 2023. All participating patients were diagnosed with kidney stones and underwent percutaneous nephrolithotomy using a miniaturised tract. Information regarding kidney stone pathology, outcomes, and complications during and after surgery was collected and analyzed. Results showed that the success rate of accessing the renal calyceal system and creating the mini tract for stone removal was 100%. The average time to access the renal calyceal system was 12.5 (8.6) minutes, with the shortest time being 3 minutes and the longest 30 minutes. The average time to create the tract and place the amplatz was 14.5 (4.0) minutes, with the shortest time being 10 minutes and the longest 20 minutes. All patients had a JJ stent placed post-surgery. The complication rate was 23.3%, with the most common complication being fever (10%). The stone-free rate after surgery was 83.3%, with an average nephrostomy tube removal time of 4.28 days. The average hospital stay was 6.4 days, ranging from 4 to 12 days. After one month, the stone-free rate reached 90%. Kidney stones are quite common in Vietnam, making the selection of an effective and safe surgical method crucial. The percutaneous nephrolithotomy technique using a miniaturised tract has demonstrated significant benefits for patients with kidney stones, contributing to improved treatment outcomes and reduced complications.
