Abstract

Objectives: Evaluate the mortality prognostic value of SIC scale in the first 7 days in septic shock patients. Materials and method: Prospective Descriptive Study on 108 septic shock patients treated in the Center of Emergency, Intensive Care Medicine and Clinical Toxicology - 103 Military Hospital - Vietnam Military Medical University from 04/2021 to 03/2023. Results: The proportion of patients with SIC increased from 63.0% to 78.6% in the first 3 days, then gradually decreased and was lowest on the 7th day (56.3 %). Over the study periods, 84.3% of patients had SIC status. The SIC score in the death group was higher than the survival group on the 1st, 3rd, 5th and 7th day, p<0,05. SIC scores on the 1st, 3rd, 5th, and 7th day had weak, quite good, quite good and good mortality prognostic values with AUC of 0.620, 0.710, 0.751 and 0.826, p<0.01. The group of patients with SIC status had a higher risk of death than the group without SIC, with OR=5.99 (95%CI:1.8-19.9, p<0.01). Conclusions: The SIC scores in the death group were higher than in the survival group. The SIC score had weak, quite good, quite good, and good mortality prognostic value on the 1st, 3rd, 5th, and 7th day. The SIC status was a valuable predicting mortality factor in septic shock patients.
