Abstract

Objectives: Preparing a tannin-rich liquid extract from leaves of Sen mat (Madhuca pasquier). Methods: The study conducts experiments to select the             extraction technique and some relevant parameters of the process. In addition, this report will evaluate quality criteria of sen mat leaves liquid extract. Results: The survey results have chosen microwave-assisted technique as the extraction method and the process parameters included: a solvent of 70% EtOH, a temperature of 70°C, one-time extraction, a solvent-to-herbs ratio of 30/1 (mL/gram), a time period of 30 minutes. From the extraction method and parameters decided above, the sen mat liquid extract prepared had the tannin extracting yield of 79.26%. The tannin content in sen mat liquid extract was 7,09 ± 0,10 mg/g. Quality criteria of sen mat liquid extract such as appearance, transparency and uniformity, density, qualitative determination of tanin have been evaluated. Conclusions: The extraction method and process parameters for liquid extract of sen mat leaves on a laboratory scale have been selected.
