Abstract

Objectives: To describe the quality of life (QoL) levels and to determine the association between family history of hypertension and QoL domains among hypertensive patients treated at Tay Nguyen Regional General Hospital. Methods: A cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted on 209 hypertensive patients aged ≥ 18 years who were receiving treatment at Tay Nguyen Regional General Hospital from January to June 2023. Results:Most patients had a moderate level of QoL (70.3%), with an overall mean quality of life score (of 54.97 ± 13.08) across four domains. By domain, the mean scores were 52.86 ± 16.26 for physical health, 52.90 ± 15.65 for psychological health, 59.77 ± 13.15 for social relationships, and 54.33 ± 13.26 for the environmental domain. Analysis revealed that a family history of hypertension was associated with QoL in the psychological domain of QoL. Conclusion:The majority of participants in the study reported a sub-optimal QoL (74.6%), with a moderate level predominant at 70.3%. Family history of hypertension was identified as a statistically significant factor associated with the psychological domain of QoL.
