CLINICAL AND PARACLINICAL CHARACTERISTICS OF PATIENTS WITH HEMORRHAGIC TRANSFORMATION OF ACUTE ISCHEMIC STROKE ON MAGNETIC RESONANCE IMAGING

Abstract
Objectives: To describe the clinical and paraclinical characteristics of patients with hemorrhagic transformation of acute ischemic stroke detected on MRI. Methods: A retrospective, prospective, cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted on 54 patients with acute ischemic stroke who underwent brain MRI at Military Hospital 103 between April 2023 and April 2025. Results: Predictors of the risk of hemorrhagic transformation included atrial fibrillation (OR = 6.25; 95%CI: 1.203 - 32.467; p = 0.029); NIHSS score (OR = 0.964; 95%CI: 0.964 - 1.268; p = 0.15); neutrophil (OR = 1.037; 95%CI: 0.985 - 1.092; p = 0.163); volume of ischemic area (OR = 1.00; 95%CI: 0.987 - 1.013; p = 0.988). Conclusion: The proportion of hemorrhagic infarction (HI) was higher than that of parenchymal hematoma (PH). Atrial fibrillation was an independent factor associated with hemorrhagic transformation in patients with acute ischemic stroke.
