Abstract

Objectives:

To assess the changes in erectile dysfunction (ED) before and after kidney transplantation using the IIEF-5 score and analyze the relationship with some clinical and paraclinical characteristics in men patients 6 months after kidney transplantation from living donors. Methods: Prospective descriptive study, longitudinal follow-up in 45 men kidney transplant recipients from March 2023 to May 2024 at Military Hospital 103.Results: IIEF-5 score after 6 months of kidney transplantation was 22 (18 - 23), improved compared to pre-transplantation, p<0.001; the ED rate was 44.44%, in which mild, moderate, severe levels were 26.67%, 17.78%, 0%, respectively. IIEF-5 score has a significant positive correlation with glomerular filtration rate, r = 0.356, p<0.05. In Logistic regression, age and Testosterone concentration were two independent factors associated with ED in men after kidney transplantation with OR = 1.11 (95%CI: 0.99 - 1.247), p = 0.032 and 0.896 (95%CI: 0.742 - 1.081), p = 0.028, respectively. Conclusion: The rate of ED in men kidney transplantation is still high, associated with age, testosterone concentration and glomerular filtration rate after transplantation.
