Research on morphological characteristics and microstructure of Polygonum perfoliatum L., Polygonaceae family
Main Article Content
Abstract
Abstract:
Objective: Research was conducted to determine the scientific name and test the microstructure of medicinal herbs. Methods: Observe, describe, compare and contrast with classification keys, botanical documents on morphological characteristics and use methods of cutting and staining plant anatomy to observe the microstructure of plants Polygonum perfoliatum L.. Results: showed that Polygonum perfoliatum L. is a perennial herbaceous plant, the stem is heavily branched and purple in color, with thorns. Leaves are simple, alternate, with entire triangular blades. Inflorescences are unidirectional, flowers are even, bisexual, flowers have no petals. The fruit is 3-4 mm spherical, glossy black, enclosed in a long-lasting perianth. Microstructural characteristics: Stems and leaves have unicellular root hairs and multicellular tips. The roots have the characteristic of wood occupying the center and having many spiny calcium oxalate crystals. Medicinal powder has many starch granules in both leaves and stems, with point and line veins. Conclusion: Research on plant characteristics confirms the potential in creating a diverse database of plants and a premise for future research.
