Evaluating the results of manual dissection technique for shoulder spondylitis under brachial plexus anesthesia in patients with frozen shoulders at 103 Military hospital in 2020-2022

Abstract
Objectives: To evaluate the efficacy and safety of manual dissection technique for shoulder spondylitis under brachial plexus anesthesia in patients with frozen shoulder. Subjects and methods: 30 patients were diagnosed with stage 2 frozen shoulder, prospective intervention study, comparison before and after, evaluation of pain relief and restoration of shoulder range of motion in patients with frozen shoulder. Results: According to the VAS scale, the pain level before the treatment, 1 day and 1 week after the treatment were 7,53 ± 1,25; 2,49 ± 1,12 and 1,27 ± 0,45 respectively (p<0,05). The active folding motion of the arm before the treatment, 1 day and 1 week after the treatment were 94,33 ± 12,94; 172,12 ± 4,67 and 173,13 ± 5,79 respectively (p<0.001). The active stretching motion of the arm before the treatment, 1 day and 1 week after the treatment were 20,33 ± 3,39;42,32 ± 2,45 and 43,13 ± 1,34 respectively (p<0.001). The active outstretching of the arm before the treatment was 82.67 ± 5.83 and that after the treatment 1 day and 1 week were 172,12 ± 4,56 and 173,13 ± 5,79 respectively (p<0.001). More than 90% of patients restored their normal range of shoulder movement 1 week after the manipulation. Conclusions: The manual dissection technique for shoulder spondylitis under anesthesia of the brachial plexus is effective on pain relief as well as improvement of shoulder movement immediately and 1 week after the treatment.
