RESEARCH ON E/e’ RATIO AND LEFT ATRIAL REMODELING BY SPECKLE-TRACKING ECHOCARDIOGRAPHY IN PATIENTS WITH TYPE 2 DIABETES
Main Article Content
Abstract
Objective: Investigation of the E/e’ ratio by tissue doppler ultrasound and left atrial remodeling by speckle-tracking echocardiography in type 2 diabetic patients. Subject and method: A cross- sectional study on 51 type 2 diabetes patients. Control group contains 50 good healthy people. Result: The average E/e’ ratio in the group of patients with type 2 diabetes is 10,15 ± 3,09, higher than healthy people of the same age. Left atrial function in the group of patients with type 2 diabetes is reduced compared to healthy people of the same age, in which, reservoir function at QRS (30,02 ± 5,20%), conduit function at QRS (-15,97 ± 6,63%), booster-pump at QRS (-17,04 ± 6,29%). There is a negative correlation between left atrial function and E/e’ ratio, p<0,05. There is a negative correlation between left atrial function and left atrial volume and left atrial volume index, p<0,05. Conclusion: A decrease of left atrial function in patients with type 2 diabetes compared with age-matched healthy subjects. There is a correlation between left atrial function and E/e’ ratio, left atrial volume and left atrial volume index.
