ABSTRACT

Objective: Evaluate the treatment results of recurrent chronic rhinosinusitis after surgery. Materials and methods: A case-by-case descriptive study with intervention on 37 patients who underwent endoscopic surgery to treat recurrent chronic rhinosinusitis after surgery at 103 Military Hospital from March 2022 until November 2023. Results: Patients who did not have regular follow-up examinations and care had a high recurrence rate at 67.6%; Recurrent chronic rhinosinusitis after surgery had all the symptoms of chronic rhinosinusitis, of which rhinorrhea was the most common at 100%; Physical symptoms through endoscopy were different because the patients had had surgery; On the computed tomography scan of the nose and sinuses, there were also images of fluid accumulation in the sinuses, mucosal thickening, nasal polyps, and other abnormalities. Treatment results: the average VAS score (Visual Analogue Scales) of functional symptoms decreased after 3 months with a statistical significance of p<0.001; 1 month after surgery, mainly endoscopic results were pretty good at 75.7%; and 3 months after surgery, patients achieved good results at 70.3%. Conclusion: Endoscopic rhinosinus surgery is still an effective treatment method for recurrent chronic rhinosinusitis after surgery, with 70.3% of patients achieving good results after 3 months of surgery.
