Abstract

Objectives: study anxiety –like behavior in obese white rats by high-fat diet. Subjects and methods: The 62 white male rats were divided into two groups of normal diet (n = 31) and high-fat diet group (n = 31). After model behaviors of rats were investigated from the 8 week to the 10 week: Morris water maze test. Results: the activity of rats over the days in the Morris water maze: travelled distance and time to find a platform were different by days in both groups (p < 0,05). Rats in the normal diet group have  shorter swimming distance and less time to swim in  the water maze to find platform than those in the group fed high-fat diet but It was not reach statiscicaly significant difference (p > 0,05). The activity of rats on day 6 in the Morris water maze: The travelled distance and spent time at the quardant having the platform in previous training at day 6 of rats fed with high-fat diet were less than those of the normal diet group, but not reached at significant level (p > 0,05). Conclusion: rats fed a high-fat diet had decreased learning and memory compared to rats fed a normal diet.
