Abstract
Objective: To describe the current situation and determine the relationship between the risk of falling and clinical characteristics in Parkinsonian patients. Method: a descriptive and cross-sectional prospective study on 169 Parkinsonian patients treated at the Department of Neurology, Thai Binh Provincial General Hospital. The FES-I toolkit is used to assess the risk of falling. Results: the predominant age group is 65-79 years old, the percentage of men and women is equal. The average duration of the disease is 6.9 years. The vast majority of the patients is in stages 2 and 3 according to the classification of Hoehn and Yahr. The risk of falling according to the FES-I scale is 40.2% for high risk, 26.6% for moderate risk, 14.8% for low risk and 18.4% for not being risky. The FES-I fall risk score positively correlates with the patient's age, disease stages, movement disorder levels and disease severity according to the UPDRS scale. Conclusion: Parkinson's disease is mostly found in the elderly, the risk of falling in Parkinsonian patients relates to age, disease stage, and disease severity
