THE ANTI-INFLAMMATORY AND ANALGESIC EFFECT OF PHARMACOPUNCTURE WITH BEE VENOM PREPARATIONS ON PATIENTS WITH LUMBAR SPONDYLOSIS, KNEE OSTEOARTHRITIS AND SHOULDER PERIARTHRITIS

Abstract
Objectives: To evaluate the anti-inflammatory and analgesic effect of pharmacopuncture with bee venom preparations in clinical practice and the changing of cytokines and β-endorphins in the blood of patients. Subjects and methods: A controlled clinical trial and comparison before and after treatment on 60 patients with lumbar spondylosis, 60 patients with knee osteoarthritis, 60 patients with shoulder periarthritis, were treated at the National Hospital of Acupuncture and were divided into 2 groups, the study group was treated with pharmacopuncture with bee venom preparations at a dose of 0.025mg/kg body weight, compared with the control group was treated with pharmacopuncture with vitamin B and novacaine 3% during a 15-day course of treatment. The difference was statistically significant with p <0.05. Results: Pharmacopuncture with bee venom preparations at a dose of 0.0025mg/kg body weight has a pain-relieving, improves motor function, and improves quality of life better than pharmacopuncture with vitamin B and novocaine 3% (p<0.01- 0.05); increased concentration of β-endorphins- a chemical mediator involved in the anti-pain mechanism, at the same time decreased concentration of inflammatory cytokines (IL-1β and TNF-α) and increased levels of anti-inflammatory cytokines (IL- 10) of patients with lumbar spondylosis, knee osteoarthritis and shoulder periarthritis. Conclusion: Pharmacopuncture with bee venom preparations has better analgesic and anti-inflammatory effects than pharmacopuncture with vitamin B and novacaine 3%.
