Abstract

Objectives: To describe clinical and subclinical characteristics and factors affecting the sperm retrieval rate of Micro TESE technique in azoospermic Klinefelter patients.

Subjects and research methods: The study was conducted on 35 azoospermic Klinefelter patients at the Military Institute of Clinical Embryology and Histology - Military Medical University, Andrology and fertility hospital of Hanoi, IVF Center-  Hanoi General Hospital, from May 2023 to December 2023

Results: The avarage patient’s age was 34±5 years. The avarage height and weight of the study group are 170±6 cm and 67,7±9,3 kg, respectively. The average period of infertility was 5,3±4,2  years. The mean left and right testicular volumes were 1,4 ± 0,5 mL and 1,4± 0,6 mL, respectively. The average FSH, LH, Testosterone hormone concentrations were 34,9 ± 19,7 mIU/mL; 23,4 ± 8,3 mIU/mL, 5,6 ± 4,9 ng/mL  respectively; The sperm retrieval rate in azoospermic Klinefelter patients is 25,7. Patients with positive sperm retrieval rate were similar to those with a negative micro TESE im terms of clinical, subclinical characteristics.

Conclusion: The study showed that KS patients had typical clinical features such as tall stature, small firm testes; FSH and LH hormone concentrations increase very high. The sperm retrieval rate was 25,7%, lower than that of non-obstructive azoospermic patients in general. No associations between clinical and hormonal variables with micro TESE success were found in azoospermic Klinefelter patients.
