THE VALUE OF MAP(ASH) SCORE FOR PROGNOSIS OF PATIENTS WITH ACUTE VARICEAL BLEEDING
Main Article Content
Abstract
Objective: To determine the value of MAP(ASH) score in predicting early rebleeding and in-hospital mortality in cirrhotic patients with acute variceal bleeding (AVB). Subject and method: cross-sectional descriptive study carried out on 222 cirrhotic patients with AVB in 103 military hospital and 108 military central hospital between September 2020 and May 2022. To compare MAP(ASH) score with the rate of early rebleeding and in-hospital mortality. Results: MAP(ASH) score had a good prognostic power in in-hospital mortality (AUROC 0.83; 95%CI: 0.69-0.96; p < 0.001), at the cut-off value of 7, MAP(ASH) score had 66.7% Se, 96.1%% Sp) and an a modest predicting value in re-bleeding (AUROC 0.72; 95%CI: 0.59-0.84; p = 0.001), at the cut-off value of 4 MAP(ASH) score had 80.0% Se and 59.4% Sp. Conclusion: MAP(ASH) score has a significant perfomance in the prognosis of in-hospital mortality and early rebleeding in cirrhotic patients with AVB.
