EVALUATION OF THE SEDATIVE AND SLEEP IMPROVEMENT EFFECTS OF THE MEDICINE “AN THAN DINH TRI QY” IN EXPERIMENTAL MICE MODEL
Main Article Content
Abstract
Objectives: To evaluate the sedative and sleep improvement effects of the medicine "An than dinh tri QY" (ATDTQY) on Swiss white mice. Methods: Using the phylogenetic model to evaluate the sedative effect and the insomnia mice model induced by caffeine to evaluate the sleep improvement effect of pentobarbital. Mice were given ATDTQY at a dose of 36 g/kg/day and 108 g/kg/day (based on dry herbs). Results: In the phylogenetic, at 1 hour and 3 hours after using ATDTQY, the number of times the mice moved horizontally and vertically decreased significantly compared to that of the control group (p < 0.05 and p < 0.01). In the caffeine-induced insomnia model, using ATDTQY at both doses reduced sleep latency and increased sleep time compared to those of the pathology group (p < 0.01). These effects of ATDTQY are equivalent to that of Diazepam at a dose of 2.4 mg/kg. Conclusion: The ATDTQY at doses of 36 g/kg/day and 108 g/kg/day had a sedative effect and improved sleep quality in experimental mice, which was equivalent to the Diazepam dose of 2.4 mg/kg.
