PREGNANCY OUTCOMES ON THE 5th DAY VERSUS THE 6th DAY OF SINGLE FROZEN - THAWED BLASTOCYST TRANSFER AT TAM ANH GENERAL HOSPITAL HANOI

Abstract
Objectives: To compare the outcomes on the 5th day of single frozen blastocyst-stage embryo transfer with those on the 6th day at assisted reproductive technology center, Tam Anh General Hospital Hanoi. Methods: A retrospective descriptive study on 872 patients < 35 years of age, with the transfer of very good or good single frozen embryos on the 5th or 6th day, without embryo biopsy from January 2019 to January 2023. Results: 830 patients were in the 5th-day embryo transfer group, and 42 patients were in the 6th-day embryo transfer group. Pregnancy rate (PR), clinical pregnancy rate (CPR), and ongoing pregnancy rate were higher in the 5th-day group (74.3% vs. 64.3%, 60.3% vs. 54.8%, and 53.3% vs. 40%, respectively); however, the differences were not statistically significant (p > 0.05). Meanwhile, the miscarriage rate of embryo transfer on the 5th day was lower than that on the 6th day, which was not statistically significant (7.1% vs 12.1%; p = 0.292). Furthermore, the biochemical pregnancy rate on the 5th day of embryo transfer was higher than that on the 6th day (14% vs. 9.5%; p = 0.413), which was also not statistically significant. Conclusion: Although the pregnancy, clinical pregnancy, and ongoing pregnancy rates were higher in the 5th-day group, the differences were not statistically significant. Therefore, if the patient does not have embryos on the 5th day, a 6th-day embryo transfer is still a good option ensuring high pregnancy rates.
