Abstract

The elbow joint is the second most dislocated joint. However, since its deployment (October 2018), Vietnam’s Level 2 Hospital in South Sudan mission has rarely seen patients with elbow dislocation for treatment. In August 2022, in Vietnam’s level 2 Field Hospital rotation 4, we treated a 32-year-old male patient who sustained a fall on an outstretched hand and presented with pain, swelling, deformity, and inability to move his left elbow. The patient had no complications of neurovascular damage, and the radiograph showed no fracture of the elbow. The patient was performed closed reduction and immobilized the elbow joint for 3 weeks, then was exercised to restore the function of the left elbow joint. After 6 weeks of treatment, the range of motion of the left elbow joint reached the same as the right side.
