FORMULATION AND EVALUATION OF AN EMULSION-BASED SHAMPOO CONTAINING BAICAPIL, BIOTIN AND CAFFEINE
Main Article Content
Abstract
Objectives: To formulate an emulsion-based shampoo containing baicapil, biotin and caffeine, as well as to evaluate its physicochemical properties and hair-care capabilities. Methods: This was an in vivo experimental study design. The shampoo was prepared using a hot emulsification method; evaluations covered stability, hair-smoothing ability, hair surface morphology, and hair growth-promoting potential in experimental mice. Results: The formulated emulsion shampoo maintained homogeneity for up to 28 days under accelerated ageing conditions (40°C, 75% relative humidity); it resulted in a significantly lower combing work (29.49mJ) compared to the untreated control (60.36mJ); improved hair surface morphology; and promoted hair follicle development in mice by day 7 compared to the base shampoo. Conclusion: The formulated emulsion shampoo smooths and improves the hair surface and demonstrates potential for promoting hair growth in an experimental mouse model.
