Abstract

Objectives: To isolate compounds from Maranta arundinacea leaves and evaluate their inhibitory activity against NO production. Methods:This was an in vitro experimental study design. Compounds were isolated using chromatography; their structures were elucidated via NMR spectroscopy. Inhibitory activity against NO production was assessed using RAW 264.7 cells. Results: Seven compounds (1 - 7) were isolated. Compounds 5 and 6 demonstrated significant inhibition of NO production, with IC50 values of 25.1µM and 37.5µM, respectively.Conclusion: Seven compounds belonging to the megastigman, flavonoid, and lignan classes were isolated from M. arundinacea leaves for the first time. Compounds 5 and 6 exhibited the strongest inhibitory activity against NO production.
