Abstract

Objectives: To analyze drug-related problems (DRPs) in outpatient health insurance prescriptions. Methods: A cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted on 4,620 outpatient prescriptions from January 1, 2024 to December 31, 2024 at Military Hospital 7. Results: Among the 4,620 analyzed prescriptions, males accounted for a higher proportion than females (56.06% vs 43.94%), the average age was 65.21 ± 12.01 years, the average number of comorbidities was 3.44 ± 2.07, and the average number of medications per prescription was 3.48 ± 1.69. The DRPs detected in the prescriptions included: underdosing (15.32%); incorrect route of administration (6.32%); drug interactions (1.93%); incorrect drug names (0.52%); overdosing (0.13%); and therapeutic duplication (0.02%). Conclusion: DRPs were identified in outpatient health insurance prescriptions at Military Hospital 7 in 2024. Specifically, a total of 68/89 drug interaction pairs between Captopril/Enalapril/Ramipril and Allopurinol were recorded, which are serious but preventable interactions in clinical application.
