Abstract

Objectives: To describe clinical symptoms, computed tomography (CT) images, and histopathology of chronic rhinosinusitis. Subjects and methods: A descriptive prospective study of case series on 33 patients diagnosed with chronic rhinosinusitis who underwent functional endoscopic sinus surgery from January to August 2022. Results: The mean total SNOT-20 score is 16.45 ± 5.82; the mean Lund - Kennedy score: 4.7 ± 1.33; the mean Lund - Mackay score: 4.82 ± 1.84; the number of cells /HPF: Eosinophil (63.33 ± 97.1), Neutrophil/ HPF (4.3 ± 7.88) and Lymphoma/ HPF (36.36 ± 29); percentage of gland cells 76 - 100% (69.7%); squamous metaplasia (27.3%); edematous stroma (81.8%); stromal fibrosis (51.5%); degree of inflammation: Moderate (45.5%). Conclusion: The scales should be used to increase objectivity in the assessment of chronic rhinosinusitis based on clinical symptoms, paraclinical symptoms, and sinosinus CT images, and performing histopathology in order to have basic for treating chronic rhinosinusitis.
