EVALUATION OF ANALGESIC EFFICACY OF ULTRASOUND-GUIDED INFRAINGUINAL FASCIA ILIACA COMPARTMENT BLOCK FOLLOWING HIP ARTHROPLASTY AT DA NANG HOSPITAL

Abstract
Objectives: To assess the analgesic efficacy of ultrasound-guided infrainguinal fascia iliaca compartment block (FICB) in patients following hip arthroplasty. Methods: A prospective, longitudinal,descriptive study was conducted on 50 patients aged > 18 years with ASA I - III scheduled for hip arthroplasty at Da Nang Hospital from October 2025 to April 2026. Patients underwent ultrasound-guided infrainguinal FICB with an initial bolus of 30mL 0.25% levobupivacaine. Analgesia was then maintained via a catheter with intermittent automated boluses of 30mL of 0.125% levobupivacaine every 8 hours. Results: Effective analgesia was achieved, with VAS (Visual analogue scale) scores remaining < 4 at most evaluated points both at rest and during movement. No patient required rescue analgesia with PCA (patient controlled analgesia) morphine during the follow-up period. Furthermore, 96.0% of patients reported being satisfied and very satisfied with the quality of pain control. Conclusion: Ultrasound-guided infrainguinal FICB provides effective postoperative analgesia in patients following hip arthroplasty.
