Abstract

Objectives: To investigate the clinical characteristics and therapeutic effectiveness of the Epley maneuver in patients with posterior canal benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (PC-BPPV). Methods: An uncontrolled interventional study with a pre-and post-treatment assessment was conducted on 36 patients diagnosed with PC-BPPV and treated with the Epley maneuver. Variables were summarized as frequencies, percentages, or mean ± standard deviation  ± SD). Paired t-test or Wilcoxon signed-rank test was used to compare pre- and post-treatment outcomes. Results: The mean age was 58.31 ± 10.64 years; females predominated significantly at 91.67%; right-sided involvement was the most frequent (72.22%). After treatment, the mean VAS score decreased from 9.56 ± 0.81 to 1.53 ± 0.74; the total VSS-SF score decreased from 49.61 ± 4.71 to 11.06 ± 3.26; the total DHI score decreased from 71.94 ± 11.80 to 18.50 ± 3.62; all differences were statistically significant (p < 0.001). Conclusion: The Epley maneuver markedly improves symptoms and quality of life in patients with PC-BPPV.
