Abstract

Primary malignant tracheal tumors are rare and account for 0.03% of all registered malignancies. Its symptoms generally do not manifest in the early stages until patients experience shortness of breath  because the large tumor blocks their airway. Surgery is considered as the first choice of treatment but poses a great challenge to thoracic surgeons in terms of tracheal resection and tracheal anastomosis. This report describes a 36-year-old female diagnosed with a primary tracheal tumor and underwent tracheal resection and tracheal anastomosis at the Department of Thoracic Surgery, Military Hospital 103. The surgical procedure was safe, and the patient was discharged 10 days after surgery.
