EVALUATION OF PREGNANCY OUTCOMES IN WOMEN WITH PREECLAMPSIA FROM 28 WEEKS OF GESTATION AT HANOI OBSTETRICS AND GYNECOLOGY HOSPITAL

Abstract

Objectives:  To evaluate pregnancy outcomes in women with preeclampsia from 28   weeks   of   gestation   at   Hanoi   Obstetrics   and   Gynecology   Hospital. Methods: A retrospective, cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted on 83 pregnant women with preeclampsia who were diagnosed and treated as inpatients from 28 weeks of gestation at Hanoi Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital between January 2024 and September 2025. Results: The progressive severe preeclampsia rate was 49.3%, with predominantly in the < 34-week gestational age group (30.1%). The group with progressive severe preeclampsia required earlier hospitalization (31.43 weeks) and earlier termination of pregnancy (32.5 weeks) compared to the non-progressive severe preeclampsia group (p < 0.05). Cesarean section was the most common mode of delivery among cases of preeclampsia (96.4%). Neonatal outcomes in the group with progressive severe preeclampsia were poorer than those in the non-progressive severe preeclampsia group, with lower birth weight (1,300g vs. 2,500g), a higher rate of 1-minute Apgar score < 7 (30.4% vs. 0%), a higher rate of neonatal resuscitation (67.9% vs. 11.1%), and a higher rate of admission to the Neonatal Unit (78.6% vs. 9.5%) (p < 0.05). Conclusion: Progressive severe preeclampsia accounted for a high proportion (49.3%), was more common in pregnancies < 34 weeks of gestation, required earlier termination of pregnancy, and had poorer neonatal outcomes compared with the non-progressive severe preeclampsia group.
