ANALYSIS OF THE LIST OF DRUGS IN USE AT 108 MILITARY CENTRAL HOSPITAL ACCORDING TO THE BIDDING IMPLEMENTATION PERIOD IN 2020

Abstract
Objectives: To analyze the list of drugs in use at 108 Military Central Hospital according to the bidding implementation period in 2020 and analyze the list of drugs in use at the hospital according to ABC/VEN classification. Methods: A cross-sectional descriptive study based on retrospective data was conducted at 108 Military Central Hospital from May 1, 2020 to April 30, 2021. Results: The drug group with the highest value in use was the group of cancer treatment and immune regulation drugs; the group with the highest number of items was cardiovascular drugs. Imported drugs accounted for more than 60% of both value in use and the number of items; single-ingredient drugs accounted for more than 80% of both value in use and number of items. Oral drugs accounted for the highest gross profit (56.72%); injectable and infusion drugs had the highest value (50.38%). The value in use and the number of items of generic drugs was 3 times higher than those of the original brand name drugs. Drugs in subgroups A, B, C accounted for 76.86%, 14.24%, and 8.91% of value in use, respectively. VEN analysis showed that group V had 221 items (15.89%), group E had 888 items (63.84%), and group N had 282 items (20.27%) accounting for 48%, 68.72%, and 9.8% of value in use, respectively. Drugs of group AN accounted for 4.92% of value in use. Conclusion: The study analyzed the structure of the drug in use at 108 Military Central Hospital according to the bidding implementation period in 2020, during the COVID-19 outbreak. In particular, the study clearly demonstrated the ratio of quantity and value in use of drugs and drug groups in accordance with the disease model of the tertiary hospital, showing the role of the Drug and Treatment Council in the management and use of drugs appropriately and safely, meeting the treatment effectiveness for patients. The use of drugs in the hospital during the COVID-19 outbreak has not changed compared to the early stages of the epidemic.
