Abstract

Objectives: To investigate clinical characteristics and evaluate the results of osteosynthesis with 2-point fixation in the treatment of complete zygomatic fractures. Methods: A prospective, cross-sectional descriptive, and longitudinal study was conducted on 55 patients diagnosed with complete zygomatic fractures, treated by osteosynthesis with 2-point fixation at the Department of Maxillofacial and Reconstructive Surgery, Military Hospital 103, from January to July 2025. Results: The most common age group was 20 - 40 years old (47.3%), the majority was male (87.3%), and the main cause was traffic accidents (90.9%). Chosen types of zygomatic body fractures with rotation are group IV and V according to the Knight and North classification. Most patients achieved good outcomes in both aesthetic and functional aspects, including symmetric zygoma (90.9%), good wound healing (85.5%), good X-ray results (92.7%), good postoperative scars (100%), good mouth opening (100%), recovery of nerve function (96.4%), and good vision (96.4%). Conclusion: Osteosynthesis with 2-point fixation in the treatment of complete zygomatic fractures provides good functional and aesthetic results, which can be applied to the majority of patients with complete zygomatic fractures clinically.
