RESEARCH ON SLEEP QUALITY AND SOME RELATED FACTORS IN PATIENTS WITH METABOLIC SYNDROME
Main Article Content
Abstract
Objectives: To investigate the characteristics of sleep quality disorders using the Pittsburgh sleep quality index (PSQI) scale in patients with metabolic syndrome. Methods: A cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted on 70 patients with metabolic syndrome who were receiving outpatient treatment at Military Hospital 103 from July 2024 to May 2025. Sleep quality was assessed using the PSQI scale. Results: The proportion of patients with poor sleep quality (PSQI > 5) was 51.4%. There were statistically significant positive correlations between PSQI scores and age, as well as level of glucose and LDL. Female patients and those with 5 components of metabolic syndrome showed a significant increase in the PSQI scores as compared with males and those with 3 components of metabolic syndrome. Conclusion: There was an increased rate of poor sleep quality in patients with metabolic syndrome. Age, gender, glucose and LDL levels, and the number of metabolic syndrome correlated with components of sleep quality in these patients.
