EVALUATION OF ORTHOGNATHIC SURGERY OUTCOMES USING 3D PLANNING IN THE TREATMENT OF CLASS III MALOCCLUSION
Main Article Content
Abstract
Objectives: To describe clinical characteristics and evaluate outcomes of orthognathic surgery using three-dimensional virtual surgical planning (VSP) in patients with skeletal class III malocclusion. Methods: A descriptive and longitudinal study was conducted on 16 adult patients treated with VSP-guided orthognathic surgery at Viet Duc University Hospital (2021 - 2025). Clinical, cephalometric, and MSCT-based 3D assessments were performed preoperatively and at 6 months post-op. Results: The mean age was 24.19 ± 4.32 years, with male predominance. All patients had skeletal Class III malocclusion ANB Angle significantly improved from -4.82° to 1.34°, and overjet from -6.14mm to 2.44mm (p < 0.001). Facial symmetry, occlusal stability, and function improved, with no major complications and high patient satisfaction. Conclusion: VSP-guided orthognathic surgery is a safe and effective approach for skeletal Class III malocclusion, achieving stable functional and aesthetic outcomes.
