A CASE CLINICAL REPORT AND LITERATURE REVIEW: KIDNEY TRANSPLANTATION IN A PATIENT WITH FANCONI SYNDROME
Main Article Content
Abstract
Objectives: To describe the results of kidney transplantation in a patient with end-stage renal disease (ESRD) secondary to Fanconi syndrome. Methods: A descriptive case study was conducted by analyzing the medical records of a 17-year-old male patient diagnosed with Fanconi syndrome, progressing to ESRD. The patient underwent a successful deceased-donor kidney transplant in March 2025 at Viet Duc University Hospital. Clinical course, therapeutic management, and post-transplant follow-up were evaluated during the first 6 months. Results: During the 6-month post-transplant follow-up, the graft function remained stable, with no recurrence of Fanconi syndrome manifestations. Conclusion: This case illustrates the natural progression of Fanconi syndrome to ESRD and confirms that kidney transplantation can yield excellent outcomes, with complete resolution of tubular dysfunction when the disease is localized to the native kidneys.
