SURGICAL MANAGEMENT FOR COMPLICATIONS DURING INFERIOR VENA CAVA FILTER RETRIEVAL: A CLINICAL CASE REPORT
Main Article Content
Abstract
Emergency surgery plays a pivotal role in the management of rare complications during inferior vena cava (IVC) filter retrieval procedures. We report a case of a patient who underwent emergency surgery due to entrapment of a hook-type retrieval device within the right renal vein and the IVC during filter removal. Through a right transabdominal approach, the renal vein and IVC were surgically exposed. Venotomy was required to remove the IVC filter and the retrieval device, followed by repair of the renal vein and the IVC. The patient had an uneventful postoperative recovery with no evidence of vascular complications or renal dysfunction.
