SURGICAL TREATMENT OF SUPERIOR MESENTERIC ARTERY ANEURYSM DUE TO MITRAL VALVE INFECTIVE ENDOCARDITIS: A CLINICAL CASE REPORT
Main Article Content
Abstract
Superior mesenteric artery aneurysm is a rare condition, most commonly associated with infection, carrying a high risk of complications and mortality if not diagnosed and treated promptly. This study reports a successful surgery of a 39-year-old male patient with a superior mesenteric artery aneurysm due to infective endocarditis of the mitral valve. The diagnosis was confirmed by computed tomography angiography. After four weeks of infection control and defervescence, the patient underwent aneurysm resection with end-to-end anastomosis. Postoperatively, the patient was maintained on antibiotic therapy, anticoagulation, and antiplatelet agents with favorable clinical outcomes.
