Abstract

Objectives: To evaluate the early results of biportal video-assisted thoracic surgery(VATS) with systemic lymph node dissection in treating non-small cell lung cancer. Methods: A retrospective, descriptive study was conducted on 73 patients diagnosed with non-small cell lung cancer who underwent biportal VATS lobectomy with systemic lymph node dissection at the Department of Thoracic Surgery, Military Hospital 103, from January 2023 to December 2024. Results: Tumors were more common in the upper lobes (the right upper lobe was 41.09%, the left upper lobe was 16.43%), and the size was mainly ≤ 30mm (63.01%). The average number of lymph node dissection groups was 3,34. The majority of patients were in stage I (49.3%). The average surgery time was 121.90 minutes. The mean pleural drainage time was 5.48 days, and the mean hospital stay was 7.12 days. The incidence of low morbidity was 5.47%, and complications were stable and not serious. Conclusion: Biportal VATS lobectomy with lymph node dissection is a safe and effective treatment for patients with non-small cell lung cancer.
