Abstract

Objectives: To investigate the relationship between preoperative plasma adiponectin (APNa) levels and biochemical characteristics, as well as histopathological features of tumors in patients with gastric carcinoma. Methods: A descriptive study was conducted on 68 patients with gastric carcinoma who underwent curative surgery at Military Hospital 103 from July 2021 to December 2023. Preoperative APN levels were quantified using the sandwich ELISA technique (FineTest). Patients were divided into two groups based on the median APNa level; data were analyzed using SPSS 26.0. Results: In the group with high plasma APNa levels, plasma albumin levels were significantly lower compared to the group with low APNa levels, with p = 0.035. Conversely, plasma CEA levels were significantly higher in the high APNa group (p = 0.003). There were no significant differences in tumor characteristics between the high and low APN groups. Conclusion: Patients with high plasma APNa levels had significantly lower albumin levels and higher CEA levels compared to those with low APNa levels (p < 0.05).
