OUTCOMES OF TOTAL KNEE ARTHROPLASTY BASED ON THE MECHANICAL ALIGNMENT

Abstract

Objectives: To evaluate the results of total knee replacement surgery based on the mechanical alignment at 103 Military Hospital. Materials and methods: 95 patients with total knee replacement surgery from 7/2019 to 11/2024 were divided 2 groups: 45 patients used a 6-degree distal femoral resection fixture (group A), and 50 patients used a 5-degree distal femoral resection fixture (group B). The comparisons of outcomes between 2 groups were performed. Results: The good and excellent rates according to the KSS scale (KS, FS) in group A, group B, and both groups were (95.6%, 95.6%), (98%, 96%), (96.8%, 95.8%), respectively. The mean postoperative mechanical axis in group B was more medial than that in group A. Conclusion​: Total knee replacement with the principle of mechanical resulted excellent relief of pain, range of motion, restoration mechanical axis and knee joint function in the the old patiens of severe arthritis knees.
