SUMMARY
Objective: To assess attitudes and discuss some factors related to attitudes towards glaucoma among people. Subjects and methods: Cross-sectional description of 215 people visiting the Examination Department - Military Hospital 103, from June 2024 to September 2024, to assess their attitudes towards glaucoma. Results: The average value of the attitude score was 44.31 ± 10.22. Classification by attitude level showed that most participants had an average attitude (58.60%). The 18-30 age group accounted for the majority, with good attitudes (50 people) and average attitudes (95 people). Men had better attitudes than women. People living in rural areas had better attitudes than those in rural areas. Students had the highest proportion of good attitudes (43 people). Regarding education level, those with university degrees had higher positive attitudes (51 people) than those with general education (13 people). Family history and glaucoma history showed that the number of people without family history and individuals with glaucoma had higher positive attitudes. Conclusion: The study results showed that education level, family history, and occupation greatly influenced patients' attitudes toward glaucoma. The group with a high education level and a family history of the disease tended to have better attitudes. However, there was still a significant proportion of patients with average and poor attitudes.
