Abstract
Objective: To evaluate the rate of depression disorders using the DASS-21 scale and some related factors in hemodialysis patients. Methods: A total of 60 hemodialysis patients were collected from August 2023 to May 2024 at the Department of Nephrology, Military Hospital 103. Patients' depressive disorders were assessed by using the Anxiety - Depression - Stress assessment questionnaire (DASS- 21). The Pearson correlation, independent sample T test, and analysis of variance were used to analyze the data. Results: The rate of patients with depressive disorders was 18.3%. Levels of serum urea was positively and significantly correlated with the depression score. In constrast, Level of serum albumin was inversly and significantly correlated with the depression score. The group with their age over 50 years old showed significantly increase in depression score compared to the group under 30 years old. Similarly, the anemia group had a significantly higher depression score than the non-anemia group. Conclusion: The rate of depressive disorders increased in hemodialysis patients. Age, urea concentration, blood albumin and anemia were factors related to depressive symptoms in hemodialysis patients.
