Abstract
Objective: The present study aimed to asses the memory impairment improve of Vietnamese green coffee bean extract (VGCE) on mice scopolamine-induced memory impairment model. Method: 48 mice were randomly numbered and then randomly divided into six groups of 8 mice each: control group (3% tween80-pretreatment + 9‰ NaCl-treated group), disease group (3% tween80-pretreatment + scopolamine-treated group), Donezepil group (Donezepil pretreatment + scopolamine-treated group), VGCE200 group (200 mg/kg VGCE pretreatment + scopolamine-treated group), VGCE300 group (300 mg/kg VGCE pretreatment + scopolamine-treated group), and VGCE400 group (mg/kg VGCE 400 pretreatment + scopolamine-treated group). Learning and memory abilities of each group of mice were examined by passive avoidance test (PAT), Y maze test (YMT), and the Morris water maze test (MWMT). Result: VGCE-pretreated mice groups had increased the latency index in the passive avoidance test; increased the percentage of alternation in the Y-maze test; increased the percentage of swimming distance, and duration in the target quadrant on the 8th day in the Morris water maze test. Conclusions: These findings revealed that VGCE has a beneficial effect on amnesia induced by scopolamine in mice.
