Main Article Content
Abstract
Objectives: Description of the situation of 10 common infectious diseases in 3 border provinces (Son La, Dien Bien, Lao Cai) under Military Zone 2. Methods: Cross-sectional descriptive research combined with retrospective analysis. Results: Eight out of the ten most common infectious diseases have appeared in all three provinces. Among them, influenza is the most frequently encountered, with an average number of cases per month ranging from 834 to 1,519 and an average incidence rate per 100,000 people per month exceeding 1,100 cases. Next is diarrhea, with around 425 to 728 cases per month, and the average incidence rate per 100,000 people per month in Son La, Dien Bien and Lao Cai is 531; 1,176, and 543 cases, respectively. Diseases such as chickenpox, measles, mumps, dysentery, other viral hepatitis, and hand-foot-mouth disease have an average incidence rate of fewer than 100 cases per 100,000 people per month. Influenza usually appears at the end of the year and the beginning of the following year; mumps typically peak in April; Adenoviral infections increase significantly from August to November; and measles cases tend to rise from August to October. Conclusion: Most common infectious diseases are found in all three provinces of Son La, Dien Bien and Lao Cai, with influenza and diarrhea being the most frequent. Some respiratory infectious diseases tend to follow a seasonal pattern throughout the year.
